درس نيكوس كاليس في كلية الحقوق بجامعة أثينا وقاتل طوال حياته المهنية بروح أفكاره وفريقه ومكانه. انتخب نائباً عن منطقة ماغنسيا عن حزب الديمقراطية الجديدة في عام 1989 ، بينما كان في عام 1998 مرشحاً لمنصب محافظ ماغنسيا.
