حث الرئيس الفرنسي إيمانويل ماكرون دول الاتحاد الأوروبي على إرسال 5٪ من إمداداتها إلى الدول النامية لمنع ظهور متغيرات جديدة ولمنع روسيا والصين من اكتساب ميزة دبلوماسية من خلال مشاركة لقاحاتهما.
يهدف نظام Covax إلى تأمين ملياري جرعة من اللقاح للبلدان منخفضة الدخل بحلول نهاية عام 2021.
وقال: “في مارس ، تم الإبلاغ عن أن الهدف كان توزيع 237 مليون جرعة من لقاح أسترازينيكا على 142 دولة بحلول نهاية مايو” ، مضيفًا أنه أرسل أيضًا أول لقاحات فايزر.
أعرب المسؤولون الفرنسيون عن قلقهم من أن الدول المتقدمة في جميع أنحاء العالم ، التي تسرع في تطعيم سكانها ، تعهدت بتقديم الأموال فقط إلى Covax وتجنب إرسال أجزاء من مخزونها.
وتعهدت فرنسا بإرسال 500 ألف جرعة بحلول منتصف يونيو ، بحسب المستشار الفرنسي.
وقال المستشار إن الشحنة الأولى من جرعات لقاح AstraZeneca ، المتوقع تسليمها في فرنسا ، سترسل إلى Covax “على الفور”.
