“نيويورك تايمز”: آلاف الأفغان في القواعد الأمريكية ينتظرون إعادة التوطين
بعد أسابيع من عملية الإجلاء من كابل، لا يزال عشرات الآلاف من الأفغان في القواعد العسكرية الأمريكية، ينتظرون إعادة توطينهم، حيث تبطئ الفحوصات الطبية والأمنية العملية.
وذكرت صحيفة “نيويورك تايمز” أن تفشيا صغير لمرض الحصبة بين اللاجئين الأفغان تسبب في تأخير عملية التوطين، فقد تم اكتشاف سبع حالات حصبة، كما ثبت إصابة عدد قليل جدا من الأشخاص بكورونا. ويحاول المسؤولون الأميركيون تلقيح اللاجئين الأفغان ضد الحصبة والأمراض الأخرى بما في ذلك فيروس كورونا.
ووفقا لوثيقة اتحادية داخلية حصلت عليها الصحيفة، يوجد ما يقرب من 49 ألف أفغاني يعيشون في 8 قواعد عسكرية محلية، ونحو 18 ألف في قواعد في الخارج، أغلبهم في ألمانيا. وأكدت الوثيقة أن بعضهم سيتم توطينه خلال الأسابيع القادمة، لكن معظمهم سيحتاجون لفترة أطول.
وقال ميلاد درويش، المترجم العسكري السابقـ الذي وصل يوم السبت إلى قاعدة في نيوجرسي: “سنكون هنا لمدة شهر أو أكثر. هنا ما يقرب من 8000 شخص تم إجلاؤهم من أفغانستان”.
وأكد درويش أنه وعائلته نجوا بصعوبة من كابل، ثم أمضوا أربعة أيام في الدوحة، مع الآلاف من الأشخاص الذين تم إجلاؤهم، ثم نقل هو وعائلته في قاعدة بإيطاليا قبل أن يصلوا أخيرا إلى القاعدة الأمريكية.
