دعا رئيس الوزراء كيرياكوس ميتسوتاكيس ، الجمعة ، الاتحاد الأوروبي إلى تبني موقف مشترك بشأن توطين المهاجرين واللاجئين ، في حين دعا الدول “التي تعتقد أن هذه المشكلة لا تؤثر عليها” إلى تغيير موقفها.
و قال ميتسوتاكيس ، الذي زار مخيمًا جديدًا في جزيرة ساموس ، والذي تحسن كثيرًا عن المرفق السابق المكتظ بظروفه المعيشية “المخزية” ، إنه سيكون نقطة عبور للمهاجرين ، بينما أعرب عن يقينه من أن سعته البالغة 3000 شخص ستستوعب. لا تملأ لأن اليونان أصبحت أفضل بكثير في حراسة حدودها.
إلى جانب المساحة الواسعة ، يفي المخيم الجديد الذي تبلغ تكلفته 43 مليون يورو بمعيارين أساسيين آخرين ، كما قال ميتسوتاكيس: إنه مغلق ومسيطر عليه ويضمن مستوى معيشة مرتفع ؛ يحتوي على مرافق رياضية ، وملاعب للأطفال ، ومساحات للمناسبات والأنشطة الثقافية ، وغرفة كمبيوتر ، وشبكة واي فاي ، وغرفة لأكشاك المتاجر ، وغرف غسيل مشتركة ومطابخ. كما أن لديها بنية تحتية للسلامة من الحرائق ، وأجهزة لتنقية المياه ، وتكييف الهواء ، ومحطة معالجة مياه الصرف الصحي – وهي بعيدة كل البعد عن مستوى المعيشة الرهيب في مخيمات اللاجئين السابقة.
كما أعلن ميتسوتاكيس عن تمديد تخفيضات ضريبة القيمة المضافة على الجزر الخمس حيث توجد معسكرات جديدة قيد الإنشاء.
