اثينا : احتجاج على بروفة اضاءة شعلة ولمبياد بكين
كان سظوع الشمس في مسقط رأس الألعاب الأولمبية القديمة بالغيوم في اليونان قصيرًا جدًا بحيث لا يضيء الشعلة الاحتياطية لدورة الألعاب الأولمبية الشتوية في بكين 2022 في بروفة يوم الأحد.
كانت هذه هي النقطة الثانية لليوم ، بعد اعتقال اثنين من المتظاهرين في الأكروبوليس في أثينا في محاولة لرفع لافتة للفت الانتباه إلى انتهاكات حقوق الإنسان في الصين.
كانت هناك انتقادات دولية واسعة النطاق لمعاملة الصين لمسلمي الأويغور في منطقة شينجيانغ الشمالية الغربية ، فضلاً عن قمعها للمتظاهرين في هونغ كونغ وسياساتها تجاه التبت وتايوان.
لكن اللجنة الأولمبية الدولية ابتعدت عن هذه القضية ، قائلة إنها خارج اختصاصها.
إن مسألة الطقس في أولمبيا أبسط. أضاء المنظمون اليونانيون شعلة احتياطية أخرى مسبقًا إذا فشلت الطريقة التقليدية ، باستخدام مرآة على شكل وعاء لتركيز أشعة الشمس على الشعلة ، مرة أخرى بسبب الغيوم التي عطلت الحفل يوم الاثنين.
