واشنطن تعتزم تعزيز حضورها العسكري في أستراليا لردع الصين
أعلن البنتاغون أن الولايات المتحدة ستعزز حضورها العسكري في أستراليا والجزر في المحيط الهادي وستطور البنية التحتية العسكرية لها هناك في إطار الجهود لردع الصين.
وقالت القائمة بأعمال نائبة مساعد وزير الدفاع الأمريكي، مارا كارلين، خلال مؤتمر صحفي لها، يوم الاثنين، إن واشنطن تعتزم “توسيع البنية التحتية في أستراليا وعلى الجزر في المحيط الهادي ونشر الطيران في أستراليا على أساس التناوب”.
وأضافت أن الولايات المتحدة تخطط لنشر مقاتلات وقاذفات في أستراليا.
وجاء ذلك في إطار تقديمها لنتائج الاستعراض الشامل لانتشار القوات الأمريكية حول العالم، والذي أجراه البنتاغون.
يذكر أن الولايات المتحدة وأستراليا وبريطانيا كانت قد أعلنت في وقت سابق من العام الجاري عن تأسيس شراكة أمنية جديدة، ما أثار ردود فعل سلبية من قبل الصين التي اعتبرت أن قيام تحالفات عسكرية جديدة في المنطقة لا يساهم في تعزيز الاستقرار.
